My Journey to Earn a Doctor of Education

Teaching is My Passion!

Life has mysterious ways to take you through unknown but interesting paths. My academic journey has never been a straight path. My undergraduate studies were characterized by indecisiveness. My masters degree studies were initially full of enthusiasm and energy, but I lost momentum toward the end of the journey. In each of those academic journeys, I overcame the difficult circumstances with determination, hard work and a lot of support from my dear ones. I finished what I started, as my mother used to say and what I am also trying to teach my children. Now, I am attempting to do the unthinkable and unimaginable: I am pursuing a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) with a specialization in Educational Technology Management. The purpose of this site is to share with you my struggles and successes during my pursuit of the Ed.D. Enjoy!
Teachers make a DIFFERENCE!

I was born to be a teacher. My academic experiences have helped me relate with those students who struggle during their academic journey. I want to make a difference in my students’ lives and providing them with the opportunities to succeed is my mission. There is no better satisfaction to see students taking ownership of the learning process. They learn because they believe they can learn.
Why earn a Doctor of Education?
What a great question! I initially started pursuing the degree to meet my job requirements at St.Thomas University, where I work as a math instructor.  However, I discovered the real reason thanks to the words of wisdom of a mentor at Northcentral University, who said "The Ed.D. is practice oriented which is what I do - practice."  These words helped me re-discover what I do every day in my classroom: I practice meaningful learning experiences. My goal is to become a better teacher and make a greater difference in the learning experiences of my students. This would only happen if I improve my own teaching skills, my own practice. So why not earn the Ed.D.?
